Handmade Wooden Signs

Two of the most creative visionaries of this city has commissioned me to create handmade artworks for their new studio. Vista de Lente Photography headed by Mr Reymond Ledesma and Mr Rey Fortuna, and Inkpressive Invitations by Doc Venus Fortuna, trusted my crafty side to create sweet decors with quotes or phrases and images that will add personality to their new workspace. Inspired by western wedding event styling and my recent relationship with Pinterest, I was challenged to do traditional painting using scavenged wood I found in our garage, by-products of our house's renovation. My output surprised me as well. I didn't expect i can do such things. The feedback were also positive and now, many are already asking me to do one for them. Here are the first set of my "Handmade Wooden Signs" which i created for Vista de Lente. Click photos for larger view. More after the jump.

The set is currently displayed at the reception area of Vista de Lente Photography office at the new L&F Blgd fronting Cecile's Pharmacy along San Jose Rd.

Doodle Inspiration #6: Typography

Typography is much more than just graphic design or illustration with some text thrown in. It’s an art form in itself that combines carefully chosen and arranged fonts with visual elements, sometimes as a relatively straightforward communication device and sometimes as artistic expression. These are examples of typography artwork embody a broad variety of techniques and styles, but they’re all brilliant.

Holy Week

This year the holy week was earlier than i expected. For the past four years, we spent our holy week with the family outside the city but this year we stayed here in zamboanga. Anyways, holy week is not really important to me because i am not a catholic. But because im a Filipino, i still respect the sacred days where people commemorate the sacrifice of God for us. When i was a kid, holy week is a sad week. There are no shows in TV and all stores are closed. But i realized that the essence of the holy week is the love of God for us. My favorite part of the greatest story ever told is when Jesus resurrected. This is a revelation to us because through his resurrection, Christ became a life-giving spirit and we can directly experience God through the Spirit. When Jesus rose from the dead, we all celebrate. Easter Sunday represents the day when the resurrection happened. It is my favorite day in the holy week because of the true meaning of the easter day. because of this, i was inspired to create a quick vector art that i made during the eve of this years easter sunday. I hope you like it. :D

Mark 16:1-8

When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus' body. Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb and they asked each other, "Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?"

But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed.

"Don't be alarmed," he said. "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter, 'He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.' "

Trembling and bewildered, the women went out and fled from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid.

Felices Pascuas a todos!

It's Christmas time again and i would just like to greet everyone a Merry Christmas! I made this during the Christmas eve. A little present to my loved ones. I hope this will bring joy to everyone. Have a joyous Christmas day and may you have a fruitful year ahead.

Psychology in CMYK

Here is the colored version of my latest doodle shirt design. In case you don't know CMYK means Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Key (Black). It is the primary color of printers and to RGB is for monitors. The challenge here is to create various effects in coloring to make it more psychedelic and lively. I hope you like it :D

Psychology

This is my latest project for a group of Psychology students. They wanted something like this so i created my own version. Most of the characters here are inspired by bobsmade :D
