Engine of Perpetual Motion is featured in GM Book 2015

Graphika Manila is on its 10 year and to celebrate this milestone, they doubled the days and number of speakers to inspire the design community with their incredible works. Among favorite speakers were Leeroy New, Nick Automatic, Machineast, Walt Disney, and Joshua Davis. The two-day conference also included a compilation of artworks submitted by artists called the Graphika Manila Book or GM Book. My works were featured in the 2012 and 2013 editions and once again this year one of my artworks did it again. "Machine of Perpetual Motion" was created in 2012 for the Animahenasyon 2013 Poster design contest. I did not win but I still received a lot of positive feedback and it was even selected one of the daily feature in deviantart.com. This steampunk inspired piece shows the fun and colorful world of animation from conceptualization to display. I had a lot of fun during Graphika 2015 and for sure i'll go agian next year!

Animahenasyon Poster Sketch

Just wanna share my original sketch for the poster design i made for the Animahenasyon poster design contest. I was really inspired by the french houses and steampunk. Next week, we'll be attending the festival at College of St. Benilde. I hope I'll win this. :D I also wish the best for my very talented students whose Animations made it to the finals.

My Animahenasyon 2013 Poster Design Entry

After a month of conceptualizing, tracing, coloring, and redesigning, I finally came up with this poster design for Animahenasyon 2013. I made this using Photoshop only. The title of this steampunk-themed piece is "The Engine of Perpetual Motion".

Animahenasyon 2012 Poster

This is the winning poster that will be used as the campaign material for Animahenasyon 2012. The title of the poster is "Whimsical Dreams" designed by Pamela Reyes. Personally, it is one of my top picks and i'm satisfied that it won. The design is very cute and appealing to any type of audience. It's contemporary and very inspired by doodle-ish characters or those japanese cute characters. However I can still see the Filipino because of the salakot and the flag above its head.

I love the grainy texture, colors, depth and the mere layout. I just wish that the other characters look more Filipino. Their poses are not that dynamic and the swings remind me much of last year's poster. And my last critic is the typography. The text is very plain and mediocre. Good thing they changed it in the final design. Having said that, I'm still like it because it represents happiness, charm, festive, friendly, modern, and contemporary.

Anyways, I hope that this time I can make it to the competition. Next year's host is the School of Design and Arts of College of St. Benilde. It will be on November 26-29, 2012. Good luck to all animators out there and wishing the best for the Philippine Animation industry.
