Psykopainting

Last night i read this article in one of my favorite sites which talks about the latest and helpful things you can see in the internet like free fonts, apps, softwares and websites. One of the sites that caught my attention is Psykopaint which you can use to turn your photos into paintings. So i visited the website and tried it out. Here's my first shot in Psykopaint.

Cool, right? I really like doing this. It looks like an abstract painting done by an impressionist. So what are you waiting for? Try it now! Visit Psykopaint.com.

Giants and Rainbows

we are all different
weird, abnormal, a misfit
they say i don't belong
but i'm just a gentle giant
who just want to fit in
in your tiny narrow world

Doodle Sites

Just discovered some cool sites about doodles. Check 'em out:
  • Why should you doodle? by Von Glitshka. Great article about the ongoing benefits of developing a doodling habit for creatives.
  • Study: Doodling Helps You Pay Attention by John Cloud. This Time magazine article discusses a study that shows how doodling improves cognition, showing that all those characters you draw in the margins actually help you retain information during a lecture.
  • Doodlage is a doodle dedicated site. It’s defunct now, but there are still loads of awesome archives to pour through.
  • Disciplined Doodle Art. This is an interesting take on doodling. By creating a few rules for your doodling you can make a game of it and focus your style and results a bit.
  • Freedom of Doodles by RaShell. This article over on Inspiredology shows some great examples of doodles used in commercial projects, super inspiring.
  • Doodle and Creativity: A Working Team. This article discusses the carefree and playful spirit of a doodle and how connected to creativity that is.
  • Squidoo Lens on Doodle Art. This is a massive repository of links on this subject.
  • Core Art Skills: Part 1, Welcome to the Course by Ben Mounsey. This is the first part in a six part series here on Vectortuts+ where you can take further introductory steps into illustration.

Mindanao Bloggers Summit 4

This year, the Zamboanga Bloggers are hosting this year's Mindanao Bloggers Summit. As part of the core group, i was the one responsible to do the multimedia stuff like the motion graphics, poster design, etc. The first poster design i did was very simple and minimalistic, which is not really my style. It didn't really relayed the message of this year's theme which is The Mindanao Project: Weaving Voices Online. So i made another design which is more vibrant, appealing and has Zamboanga/Mindanao elements in it. I used a sort of doodle style in it with colors and patterns. After doing the poster, i animated it using after effects for the titles. The music is inspired from of my new favorite artist, Takashi Murakami, who made an animation for a fashion brand, Louis Vuitton. The music is titled "Different Colors" by Fantastic Plastic Machine. I hope that the bloggers will like my works.

MBS4 is three days away and it'll be three busy days. On October 29, there will be a series of seminars about blogging to be held at the College AVR of Ateneo de Zamboanga University. Simultaneously, some chosen bloggers and I will be having a trip up north to visit a mining site. The company is our biggest sponsor in the event so much thanks to them :D It their time to be heard after all the negative things that we hear about the mining industry. The summit proper will happen on the next day at the Ballroom of Garden Orchid Hotel. With a registration fee of 500, you will get to listen to some of Philippines Top Bloggers and people in the IT industry like Bloggie Robillo, Aileen Apolo-de Jesus, Janette Toral, and more. The topics include Blogger’s new features, Blogging for Education, Marketing your Blogs through Social Networking Sites, The role of new media in nation building and more. For the full schedule, click here. And for the third day, we will be having a city tour with the help of the City Tourism Office and Ecozone. For those who would like to join the MBS4, register now!

I hope that many people will come and will be able to enjoy the summit. Good luck to all organizers and may God bless all the guest especially those who live outside the city. Imma leave you with the motion graphics of MBS4. :D

Sunrise

And then there was sunrise. I just turned 20 and i feel happy to be with my friends and family yesterday. Thanks for all those you remembered and greeted and made my day the best. Now that im 2 decades old, im looking forward for more adventures in life and more dreams to be fulfilled. I just finished another chapter and as i unfold the next pages of my life, i expect a lot of challenges, difficulties, obstacles and, difinitely, opportunities for me. Thanks for my mom and dad and my siblings for being there always, supporting me and being a great family for me. Of course to my friends whom i treasure, we may have our lives of our own now but i hope that our friendship will never change. I may unsure of what i have or what i am today but the sun will always rise for us to reveal the greater things in life..

Oh noes! This doodle is so delayed. Yesterday, i was so busy coz i have to make an AVP for a debut so i didn't have the time to create this. Anyways, ill try to make two today ^^. I have nothing to say about this doodle so i want to share a link of what we did for yesterday's debut. We made an EPIC trailer with full visual effects, a first here in Zamboanga, i guess. Then, we also had a K-POP and Gothic Glam inspired Pre-debut photoshoot. Heres the link.

Chrystolite

Chrystolite, also known as Peridot, is the birthstone of August. I created this for all the August celebrants out there including my favorite website, DeviantArt.com who is now on its 10th year. I discovered it 4 years ago when i was a freshmen college student in the university. I was interested to join this community because i need resources, inspiration and a place where to showcase my artworks. I grew as a graphic designer and artist from my constant exposure of beautiful artworks and informative tutorials and tips that i get from the site. Because of this i want to thank the whole deviantArt community for being a great source of my inspiration and growth in this endeavor. Happy Birthday to all Chrystolite babies and hoping for more birthdays to come! ^^

Juno

Here are some inspirational quotes from Juno MacGuff:

Yeah I came as soon as I got that ultrasound goo off my pelvis. It was crazy actually, my step-mom verbally abused the ultrasound tech and we got escorted off the premises.

Oh, and she inexplicably mails me a cactus every Valentine's Day. And I'm like, "Thanks a heap coyote ugly. This cactus-gram stings even worse than your abandonment."

I could so go for like a huge cookie right now, with like, a lamb kabob simultaneously.

Wow your shorts are like especially gold today.

Yeah, I'm a legend. You know, they call me the cautionary whale.

Uh, aren't I just gonna, ya know, squeeze it out and, hand it over to you?

You should've gone to China, you know, 'cause I hear they give away babies like free iPods. You know, they pretty much just put them in those t-shirt guns and shoot them out at sporting events.

"And the receptionist tried to give me these weird condoms that looked like grape suckers, and she told me about her boyfriend's pie balls and Su-Chin was there and she told me the baby had fingernails. Fingernails!"

Insomniacs

How many thousand of my poorest subjects
Are at this hour asleep! O sleep, O gentle sleep,
Nature's soft nurse, how have I frighted thee,
That thou no more wilt weigh my eyelids down
And steep my senses in forgetfulness?

No Guts, No Glory

This is my attempt to get gross.hehe. I don't know but i have seen many artworks that shows intestines and brains that are cool. Im not really sure why there are people who find amusement in grotesque or bloody stuff. No wonder i didn't take nursing in college coz im not interested in touching people especially when their insides are tucked out. No offense to nurses or doctors, but i just cant stand blood for a long period of time. I really salute these people coz they have the guts to do their jobs. Anyways, this doodle is part of my new project, 12 doodles of August as part of my countdown of my 2nd birthdecade. This one is tough but hopefully i can do this series on time. And maybe next year, i will start the 365 doodles of 2011! :D Till then!

All-Seeing City

Are your eyes open? They are all around us. Slitherin.. Smirking.. Crawling beneath the depths of our subconscious. They have conquered the pop culture and made us into monsters. Music, Television, Arts, Science, Technology, Politics, Religion..they are everywhere and we are nothing but puppets of this mad world. We have been brainwashed by the media, hypnotized by their beauty. We are like the pebbles beneath the great pyramids, being stepped upon and used as their foundation to build themselves on the top. They don't look like the villains that we see in cinemas and TV but they are the evil that is masked behind that fame, glory and power. Your life is nothing but a tiny speck in their universe.

Journal Entry #39 to #42

It's another journal entry from my 2009 planner. Dated February 9-15, 2009. This week is a very emotional week. It started happy then somehow drepressing then annoyed and ended fun. :D this is one memorable weekend coz i spent it with my friends, the losers. We don't have valentine dates so we decided to celebrate the valentines night together at one of our friends houses. since then the "Losers" were born. we celebrate our anniversary during the 14th of february in commemoration of this valentine-less night. :D

Ambao, Batang Yagit and Cactose

Just wanna share this portait reunion of my three characters united in one doodle.

Site Feature: mrdoob.com

I just discovered this cool site with different applications. I tried its multi-user sketchpad and harmony application which are cool apps for artists like me. The site is mrdoob.com, by Ricardo Cabello, a web developer and designer who loves to play around with javascripts and other things that you can possibly do with a webpage. Here are the outcome of my short visit of the website.

There are more experimental apps that you can explore, too, like a solar eclipse simulator, interactive blob and checkbox painters. :D

Kong of the Frunggle

Here's my storybook inspired digital art that i made last May. Kong lives in a place named Frunggle where giant Plubble Trees grow high. Little critters also inhabit here like the Trowl, Cleep, Tweakling.

Storybooks

I have this deviant art addiction for children's storybook style of illustrations lately. I really the simple shaky strokes that reminds me of my childhood days when i used to make simple drawings in my pad paper. There is an innocence that is beautiful to look at. The fusion of this style and the skill of today's artist made it more beautiful. I just love the little whimsical creatures, though weird, is kinda cute. The pastel colors and some vibrant ones just bring joy to every monitors or storybooks (if published.) One day i dream of having my own storybook, too, like the ever famous Christian Hans Andersen, Lemony Snickets, Lewis Caroll and Dr. Seuss. Here are some of my favorite deviants and their deviations who uses this children's storybook style.

Orient Pearl Odyssey

This is my latest digital doodle i made in illustrator. I actually made this a month ago but i kept it in my computer and almost forgot to finish it. I decided to finalize this one so I can post this while I have the time. The last thing I did is to add a texture so it won't look plain, i guess. Again, I used the ukkil style in this one like what I did in my previous doodles but this one is more clean and detailed. I titled it "Orient Pearl Odyssey" because i don't want to give it an obvious title like "the tales of the mermaid and her undersea friends"...hehe. Orient Pearl refers to Philippines as what the early conquistadors call it. I want to label this piece as a Filipino art though it has the influence of the western doodly character style. This is like a Filipino storybook version of Little Mermaid in her search of the orient pearl. It is also symbolic of how I feel towards the Filipinos around the world. We are highly influenced by the foreigners who once colonized us. Now, we can see its influence in our food, clothing, lifestyle, music and arts. It is our struggle as filipinos to look for our identity which is now a question mark for everyone. We don't have a strong identity in the world which one can easily point out in whichever aspect of life. We are so diverse and divided like our archipelagic country. So, it is also my advocacy as an artist and a Filipino to search for that identity so that one day we Filipinos will be looked in a different perspective in the whole world. Talking about Filipinos, i want to greet all Filipinos a belated happy independence day! Let us be proud of who we are and keep the fire burning in our hearts as we continue the odysseys of our lives. :D

Graffiti

I created this in a facebook app called Graffiti. I spent almost 6 hours in this one using only a mouse. XD

Stickraffiti

Stickraffiti is a graffiti that you can stick everywhere. It is basically a sticker with doodles on it and you can put in public places. I posted something like this before but i decided to give it a new name. It was called "sticker bombing" but i think its sounds too scary thinking about the situation of the place where i live. It is more of a sticker graffiti than a sticker bomb so i created a new term, stickraffiti!!! sounds sticky eh? hehe. Anyways, I prepared the stickers back home and spread my art in the streets of some place i went last week.:D here are some snapshots ^^,

I can't take pictures of all sticks because i sometimes panic. I hope the authorities won't be angry :D its a favor to make the streets more beautiful.lol. nuff said ~

The Fray Music Video Doodles - Heartless

The first time i saw this on TV, i instantly fell in love with this video. It shows how doodles are recognized as a trend in the art of creating music videos. This song is an acoustic cover of Kanye West's "Heartless." The story is about a kindergarten romance. The boy uses his pencil and paper to express his emotions. In our world of doodles, we can visualize what we feel deep inside. Our imagination can run freely through our fingertips without anyone telling us what we can or cannot do. I can really relate with this music video because i can see myself in the boy. So just watch it and appreciate the art of doodling and animation. :D

Dipolog

May 14, 2010. Im in dipolog now giving lectures about flash animation. i created these digital doodles in flash when i didn't have anything to do. the style is inspired by one of mindanao's finest artist, Rameer Tawasil, who incorporates the traditional ukkil technique in his paintings.Ukkil means "engraved" or "carved".
