Day 23: Something You Need

30 day drawing challenge 19 illustration
What is a better feeling than sipping a cup of coffee first thing in the morning? Coffee is simply the best discovery of mankind. From a humble bean of coffee, humans created countless ways to prepare and drink coffee. I love to go to cafes when i was in college, because aside from the free wifi, i can focus in studying with a cup of coffee beside me. When travelling outside Zamboanga, one of my to-do's are visiting coffee shops specially Starbucks! I'm not really a coffee nerd, im already satisfied with 3-in-1 coffees. I don't know the different kinds of coffee aside from Espresso and my favorites Cappucino and Caramel Macchiato. Coffee is cup of heaven and it gives me the regeneration that I need to boost my day. It simply gives me happiness like how chocolate makes kids happy. Anyways, here are some interesting facts about coffee that I found around the internet:

Day 22: Something You Miss

"Keep all special thoughts and memories for lifetimes to come. Share these keepsakes with others to inspire hope and build from the past, which can bridge to the future."
- Mattie Stepanek

In life, people and things come and go. We always grow and move forward but we won't forget things that touched us and changed us a person. There are things in the past that may have been gone now but they will always have a special place in our hearts. Whenever we remember them, we have this feeling, a mixture of sadness and comfort. It transports you back in time, reminiscing that feeling of happiness. Humans love that feeling of nostalgia, that's why we keep old stuff, a memorabilia of the past. Some call them ancient or antique, but the memories they have will always be as fresh as if it

Day 21: Something You Want

Almost every boy's dreams is to become an astronaut and explore outer space. There is a poetic beauty in the stars that makes us wonder about the world up there. With the knowledge of science, we get to learn about the planets, satellites, comets, asteriods, galaxies, and other heavenly bodies. We are but a speck of dust in the entire cosmos that we call universe. What I like about Astronomy is the ability to see things from the distance and discover the different shapes and colors of these celestial objects that our limited eyes can't give us. It is one of the oldest science that exists and it will never fail to amaze us with its discoveries. Humans have made amazing feats when it comes to studying space, from inventing the first telescope to creating space shuttles and sending men to the moon. Anyways, I have always been fascinated with Astronomy. When I was in grade school, science is my

Day 20: Something Orange

For something orange, Charmander popped out in my head. This pokemon character is a starter pokemon together with Squirtle and Bulbasaur, which i also did in this series. Charmander is my favorite pokemon because it was the first pokemon I heard about. In grade 4, when it became popular, i join my friends playing Pokemon where we play different characters. I have no idea what pokemons were that time because we dont watch that channel that much. They told me that I will be charmander and act like a fire breathing little dragon type of creature. When I started watching Pokemon, i realize how awesome this show really is! Charmander is undoubtedly the cutest of them all! Here are some facts about Charmander based on Bulbapedia. Charmander is an orange, bipedal, reptilian creature. It has two small fangs visible on its upper and lower jaws and blue eyes. It has

Day 19: Something New

Yes! I'm finally back in the series. After half a year of leaving this project, i finally have an idea for Day 19 which is "Something new". This challenges me to create a new style of making a drawing but still making it cohesive with the style that i used in this series. This afternoon, my friend a I went to the park to have a jog. There is a new science museum there and i really like the dome which looks like a futuristic geometric ball. This inspired me to use flat shapes in creating my new art. I searched for a reference in Deviant Art and i want it to be an animal. Finally, i stumbled upon this cool yellow bird image and decided to use it as my reference. After a few hours with the pen-tool in Illustrator and some texturing in Photoshop, i came up with this final output. Thanks to Kyokoh for the reference! I hope you like it!

Day 18: Just a Doodle

Here's a quirky doodle i did years ago and I decided to make a digital drawing for this series. The one with the rainbow yard ball is inspired by Alice in Wonderland's Chesire Cat. I just love his huge grin, large popping eyes and crazy stripes. The rest of them are sort of variation of this character that I made. Unlike my previous drawings, I used pastel colors in this one so it looks something that can be printed in a children's story book. Well, that's it :) Hope you like it!
